Danganronpa 1-2 Reload merges the renowned Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. The Danganronpa series revolves around the elite high school; Hope’s Peak Academy. Every year the school selects “Ultimate” students along with one average “Ultimate Lucky Student”.

In Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc you’ll dive into a series of class trials and expose the lies and contradictions of your classmates in order to find out who’s behind each grisly murder. In each trial, you’ll have to use the evidence and testimony collected during your investigation to literally shoot down your opponent’s assertions.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair takes you to Jabberwock Island – once a popular tourist destination, this now uninhabited island remains oddly pristine. You and your classmates at the elite Hope’s Peak Academy have been brought to this island by your super-cute teacher for a “lovey-dovey, heart-throbbing school trip.” Everyone seems to be having fun in the sun…until Monokuma returns to restart his murderous game! Trapped on this island of mutual killing, your only hope of escape rests in solving the island’s mysteries. But be warned—sometimes the truth can be its own despair…

The combination of both games in one product raised some challenges relating to the overall size of the game – including the content from both titles and with all three supported languages risked exceeding 5GB, which would have called for a progressive download system. It was a valid option that we were prepared for, but since then that 5GB limit has been increased, so it fortunately never became an issue.

Another thing one has to deal with is an upper-limit on the number of trophies/achievements for a single product – however, there had already been an earlier PS Vita release combining both games which also had shared trophies.

Finally, we had to fix some bugs and memory leaks that would appear if the player switched between the different versions frequently – the kind of issue that could easily have been missed with a less carefully done port.
